Anything Can Happen in the Theater: The Musical World of Maury Yeston
Original Cast Recording
The first musical revue devoted to the songs of two-time Tony Award–winner Maury Yeston. Yeston’s songs for musicals like Nine, Titanic, Death Takes a Holiday, Grand Hotel and Phantom have been called “among the most beautiful of the past 30 years” (The New York Times). Now, weaving together well-known Yeston showstoppers as well as overlooked gems and brand-new songs by the composer/lyricist, Forbidden Broadway creator Gerard Allesandrini has conceived Anything Can Happen in the Theater: The Musical World of Maury Yeston, starring Benjamin Eakeley, Jovan E’Sean, Alex Getlin, Justin Keyes and Mamie Parris. The world premiere recording – the seventh full-length collaboration between Yeston and PS Classics – features special orchestrations created expressly for the album by three-time Tony Award–winner Doug Besterman. “A master of the type of art song that conveys mood via melody” (The New York Times) and “a major talent indispensable to contemporary musical theatre” (Houston Chronicle), Yeston has created a diverse body of work at once intricate and emotional, cerebral and romantic, clever and unendingly melodic, that ranges from the hilarious to the deeply moving. Anything Can Happen in the Theater is certain to enchant and delight fans of Broadway musicals, and to surprise even the most ardent of Yeston aficionados.
