“One of the best debut recordings to come out of the Broadway community in quite some time... a 'must-have!' 6 out of 5 stars.”
–BroadwayWorld.com
“Stephanie J. Block strikes attitudes, bites into her words with ravenous glee, drinks in the dramatic pause, lets her big voice wail for a climactic moment of joy or rage, and relishes a hushed tone.... Undeniably, sparks fly.”
–Talkin' Broadway

Stephanie J. Block
This Place I Know
With a clear, thrilling voice capable of both intimate lyricism and unrestrained passion, Stephanie stands poised at the center of contemporary Broadway. It comes as no surprise, then, that an array of award-winning musical theatre songwriters have assembled to join the star of Broadway's Wicked, The Pirate Queen and 9 to 5: The Musical on her debut solo album, THIS PLACE I KNOW. Composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell) accompanies Stephanie on “Making Good,” the driving ballad Stephanie originated in Wicked’s initial workshops, while Marvin Hamlisch not only accompanies but arranges his own “Smart Women,” cut from the Broadway play with music Imaginary Friends. And country music legend Dolly Parton joins vocal forces with Stephanie to reinvent her 1974 classic “I Will Always Love You.” In fact, every track finds the composer joining Stephanie to interpret his or her song.
