Charles Sings Strouse
Songwriter Series
CHARLES SINGS STROUSE is the latest edition in PS Classics' ongoing Songwriter Series, produced in conjunction with the Library of Congress. Drawn primarily from demo tapes and live appearances, the CD features the Tony Award-winning composer of Bye Bye Birdie, Applause and Annie at the piano and behind the mike. In addition to several of his signature tunes ("Put on a Happy Face," "Once upon a Time," and "Tomorrow"), Strouse includes rare selections from such little-known shows as Bojangles, Hunky-Dory, Lady for a Day and Marty, with lyrics by Lee Adams, Martin Charnin, Sammy Cahn, Hal David and Strouse himself.
