Christine Andreas: Here's To The Ladies...

Christine Andreas pays tribute to the women who influenced her -- from Mary Martin and Julie Andrews to Barbara Cook and Angela Lansbury -- and the songs they introduced. She is accompanied by a 45-piece orchestra, with charts by the best Broadway and Hollywood arrangers.

The Houston Chronicle reported, "This album should have music lovers raising a glass to Christine Andreas - and the hope that Broadway pros will soon fashion a new vehicle worthy of her talents." The Tucson Citizen called it a "scorcher," while The Detroit News hailed, "Andreas does a beautiful job of making each song her own without begging comparison to the original performance. She is not trying to make you forget them, but you just might." And the Atlanta Journal-Constitution proclaimed, "She reinvents her leading ladies' work in ways that make us believe again in the American musical. Andreas has a better sound and wiser soul than Barbra Streisand, and she may be the only pop soprano working today to rival Barbara Cook."

1. Moonshine Lullaby

In its first few days of release, Christine Andreas' "Here's to the Ladies" had already generated critical acclaim and audience "buzz." David Hurst at Show Business called it "an awesome achievement. Andreas sounds as fresh and vibrant as she did when she burst on the musical scene in My Fair Lady over 20 years ago. Her soaring interpretations of signature songs associated with everyone from Merman to Andrews to Streisand are nothing less than thrilling and she sings with a passion and excitement that are contagious."

Here, Dan Fortune speaks with Christine about the album's evolution.
